Numbers strong for IPv6 Hui in NZ
Over 180 registrations have been received for the IPv6 Hui business technology events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch next week. The events will focus on roadmaps and corporate adoption of IPv6 – the next-generation Internet addressing protocol.

‘Father of the Internet’ Dr Vint Cerf is keynote speaker for the Auckland and Wellington legs. IPv6 expert Professor Hiroshi Esaki from Tokyo University will keynote the Christchurch event via videoconference.

NZ government failing on IPv6 migration
While other governments are leading the charge to upgrade IP networks, New Zealand is stuck in the slow lane.
That is in contrast to activity in the US, where the government is making IPv6 a top priority.
Frank March, a specialist advisor in the digital development group at Ministry of Economic Development and a member of the IPv6 Steering Group, says when it comes to the adoption of a new Internet Protocol, government is a tough nut to crack.
